BUNIYAD SOCIAL WELFARE SOCIETY is a research, documentation, and capacity-building organisation committed to developing socially sensitive cadres, communicators, and organised community groups with a strong child-centric and people-centric perspective. The organisation also works extensively to strengthen the capacities of voluntary and grassroots organisations by promoting research-based processes for informed and evidence-driven action.
BUNIYAD functions as a people-centric Research, Capacity Building, and Communication organisation, with a primary focus on enhancing the understanding and implementation of key legislations such as the Forest Right Act,2006, Environment conservation under Environment (Protection) Act,1986, Land Acquisition Act,1894, and Land Reforms and Constitutional values. In this role, BUNIYAD provides critical support to a wide network of organisations through capacity building in process documentation, research, publication, planning, coordination, and advocacy, enabling them to take constructive and sustainable actions.
Initiated in 2008 and formally registered in 2023, BUNIYAD SOCIAL WELFARE SOCIETY is today recognised as an innovative organisation in the field of land and community-centric research, with a strong emphasis on Madhya Pradesh. The organisation strives to reshape public perceptions around issues of wider public interest, aiming to address the root causes of poverty, exploitation, and discrimination, and to promote dignity, equality, and justice.
BUNIYAD adopts a holistic approach, recognising that social issues cannot be addressed in isolation. Instead, it seeks to interlink multiple themes and concerns to develop a broader, more integrated understanding that leads to meaningful and long-term social change.
Today, BUNIYAD has emerged as a credible social research, training, documentation, and advocacy organisation. Its work is grounded in a community-based perspective, engaging with issues through the lens of ideas, facts, values, and evidence, and contributing actively to public discourse. The organisation emphasises change emerging from within communities, rather than externally imposed solutions. This approach strengthens local leadership, promotes self-reliance, and ensures the continuity of social processes.
In line with this vision, BUNIYAD is deeply engaged in research, study, analysis, and the development of reference materials, alongside sustained communication with social workers, community leaders, public representatives, and media personnel. The organisation actively partners with grassroots organisations to conduct field-based research, capacity-building initiatives, and advocacy efforts focused on public and marginalised communities.
BUNIYAD works extensively on forest and revenue land conflicts in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In collaboration with public representatives and grassroots institutions, the organization analyses legislative provisions, policy frameworks, and administrative actions related to these issues, and supports advocacy efforts aimed at protecting community rights, resolving conflicts, and influencing informed policy dialogue. Through this work, BUNIYAD empowers communities to claim their rights and participate meaningfully in democratic and developmental processes.
